There are many organizations and individuals that offer a variety of resources for you who find yourselves confronted with the challenge of being a caregiver for a loved one. Here is a listing of the web sites of some of those with a brief description of the assistance they offer. There is also a list of wonderful books that may help you during a time of grief or loss.

National Health Ministries, Presbyterian Church (usa)
Offers health information, resources, books and other materials useful in caring for the well being of all persons from children to the elderly. Sandwich generation; survive the midlife tug of war A reprint from money magazine that can help you be both a good kid and a good parent. Doctor Marion, elder care made easier A casual, but comprehensive, guide to caring for the elderly. The caregivers handbook An extensive guide to every aspect of the daily life of caregivers, produced originally by the San Diego County mental services office. Benefits Checkup A comprehensive and easy to use website that will help you find out the benefits for which you are eligible. GovBenefits This site screens for government service eligibility and provides contact information for the various programs. Care Manager This is the site for the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (525-881-8008). They can give you referrals in your own area if you need to hire outside help for your care. Low Income Energy Assistance Program If you need money to help pay bills, and you are a low income senior, you may qualify for help with heating and cooling bills. This site has information. Many cable and cell phone services also offer discounts if you ask for them. Mayo Clinic Not all online medical advice is equal. Some is downright wrong. Some is just plain scary. Some is helpful and accurate. You can always count on this site for reliable information.. Eldercaare Locator A web based locator for finding all sorts of information needed about local community resources (in your own zip code) for the elderly. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services This site will help with Medicare and Medicaid questions. This site can be overwhelming. If you have trouble, click on contact CMS and that will take you to lots of phone numbers where you can, eventually, talk to a live person. BOOKS
